Summerween: A Spooky Reading Party with Steph
About This Event
You’re invited!
Grab your favorite spine-tingling read and meet us in the shadows of 3 Freeman Alley @ Untitled for an unforgettable Summerween evening!
Reading Rhythms is teaming up with book creator Steph https://www.instagram.com/starry.steph/ for a night that trades late summer heat for something a little darker: curated horror playlists, spooky reads, and a room full of readers who came dressed for the occasion.
Steph will be joining us to talk through her own spooky season shelf and share what's been keeping her up at night.
What to bring:
- Come in costume, or keep it simple with a spooky accessory. Fangs, a witch hat, all black with a little eyeliner smudge, whatever gets you in the mood works. This is a reading party first, so comfort matters more than a full transformation, but we love a good bit.
- Bring your favorite spooky book. Something that kept you up past your bedtime, a gothic classic, a horror short story collection, whatever "spooky" means to you.
- Still deciding what to bring? Pick up our August pick, Doe by Rebecca Barrow. Doe is a YA horror novel in verse about cheer captain Maris Larsen, whose rivalry with new teammate Genevieve pushes her into a dream bond with Doe, an ancient, decaying deer-like creature who offers her the power to win, for a price. As the two become entangled, Maris doesn't realize the creature from her dreams is real, or how much it will cost her to set it free.
Save Your Seat — Spots are limited, don't miss Summerween with Steph.
Reading Rhythms is a series of welcoming reading parties designed to make it easy for people to gather and read socially. We invite you to bring any book you want and facilitate silent reading periods, as well as 1-on-1 breakouts, and group discussions to pull on the threads of the books that everyone is engaging with.
In a world that can often feel devoid of interest and meaningful connection, we bring readers together to reconnect with our love of learning, to experience the wonder of beautiful venues and curated music, and to gather amongst all of the people who want to be in that very same room.
Our favorite conversations happen in the Reading Rhythms mobile app. Join us there → https://readingrhythms.app _________________________________________________________________________________
