About This Event

You’re invited!

Diego Perez, the writer and poet known as Yung Pueblo, is joining Reading Rhythms for an evening built around the arc of his books Lighter and How to Love Better. This is not a typical reading party. It is a full immersive journey through letting go, connecting, and expanding, guided by Diego himself alongside the Reading Rhythms team.

The evening moves through three parts that mirror the emotional arc of Lighter. We start by letting go of the past through an opening activity and reflective journaling. From there, we move into the present with guided small group connection and a facilitated conversation with Diego. We close by looking toward the future with a reading block, a live Q&A with Diego, and a mingle and book signing to end the night.

*Every ticket comes with a copy of Lighter or How to Love Better.*

Reading Rhythms is a series of welcoming reading parties designed to make it easy for people to gather and read socially. We invite you to bring any book you want and facilitate silent reading periods, as well as 1-on-1 breakouts, and group discussions to pull on the threads of the books that everyone is engaging with.

In a world that can often feel devoid of interest and meaningful connection, we bring readers together to reconnect with our love of learning, to experience the wonder of beautiful venues and curated music, and to gather amongst all of the people who want to be in that very same room.

Our favorite conversations happen in the Reading Rhythms mobile app. Join us there → https://readingrhythms.app

What Readers Say

Quotes icon

"I leave every single Reading Rhythms party feeling like skipping all the way home even if the work day preceding it makes me tired or kind of cranky. I love seeing the stars in all your eyes as you depart as well, gives me goosebumps!"

— Regular Attendee

Quotes icon

"I'm 88 years old and moved to Hudson Yards to be closer to my grandkids. I think this is a wonderful idea."

— Judith

Quotes icon

"We're embedded with everyday superficial conversations, the kind of small talk that is essentially bland, useless and tasteless. RR gives people the chance to connect similar people together in the same room."

— Community Member

Quotes icon

"That first event I attended was really cool for me because I'd been wanting to just read more often and making a plan to just go somewhere and read really kept me accountable to that."

— NYC Newcomer

Quotes icon

"I'm so glad I found Reading Rhythms! I had no idea how much I needed and wanted to connect with other readers. Last night was another exceptional experience, full of connection, laughter, and community."

— Stacee

Quotes icon

"Event space was great. Host brought great energy. Really enjoyed the quiet time reading and the conversation in the middle. Did get slightly distracted by the music (but only because it was good and I was Shazam'ing it)."

— Bradley Layton

Quotes icon

"It reminded me why I attend Reading Rhythms in the first place. Not only do they care about the readers, but they also champion the small businesses that helped shape this community in the first place."

— Andres

Quotes icon

"I really enjoyed the choice to read by the sea, the atmosphere, and the connection that was created with the other readers."

— Bernardina (Amalfi Coast)
